Te Puia is an iconic destination for every New Zealand visitor. With a long tradition of guiding in the Whakarewarewa geothermal valley, Te Puia’s guides share stories and insight into this unique corner of New Zealand. The ‘star’ of Te Puia is undoubtedly ‘Pohutu’, the Southern Hemisphere’s largest active geyser which erupts once or twice every hour and reaches heights of up to 30 meters. Visitors also have the opportunity see Maori cultural performances, live kiwi, boiling mud pools, native bush and the National School of Wood Carving and Weaving.
